All colour photos taken at the disused depot at Mate de Luna, San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina. Black and white photos are included to show how the loco looked when built.

This metre gauge locomotive was Ing. Porta's first loco. It nominally a rebuild of class B22 4-6-2 No.2011. However the vast majority of 'Argentina' was new when it was rolled out in 1949. Even today it remains one of THE best steam locomotives ever produced.

- World record equalling power to weight ratio of 31hp/ton (2120hp from a 68t loco.)
- 11.9% recorded thermal efficiency, estimated to be 13% under optimal conditions.
