This metre gauge locomotive was Ing. Porta's first loco. It nominally a rebuild of class B22 4-6-2 No.2011. However the vast majority of 'Argentina' was new when it was rolled out in 1949. Even today it remains one of THE best steam locomotives ever produced. - World record equalling power to weight ratio of 31hp/ton (2120hp from a 68t loco.) - 11.9% recorded thermal efficiency, estimated to be 13% under optimal conditions.
